- Who
invented cel animation and when?
Winsor McCay invented cel animation in 1915 - What is
cel animation?
Cel animation is (instead of drawing every single scene) taking a clear, thin sheet of celluloid and using the same (usually) background, however drawing in the foreground (usually a character), creating layers. - Explain
the process undertaken in order to animate drawings in cel animation.
To create cel animation, a picture is drawn and Xeroxed (photocopied or laser
printed) laying a powdered ink over a plastic sheet. The sheet is painted or
drawn and finished off. It is then used as a cel.
